Dra Mª Angeles Martínez Martínez works as a Clinical Neurophysiologist at the Clinical Neurophysiology Department and at the Multidisciplinary Sleep and Ventilation Unit. Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV) from 2006 to now. Somnologist, Expert in Sleep Medicine, accredited by the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) and the Spanish Accreditation Sleep Committee (CEAMS). Responsible for the implementing of Intraoperative neurophysiological techniques in the HUMV (2006) and as a part of Direct Brain Stimulation Unit (2015). Co-coordinator of the HUMV multidisciplinary sleep disorders unit from 2010 to 2015. She carried out the training of internal physician in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV) and during her residence she also carried out an external training in intraoperative neuromonitoring, video-eeg, evoked potentials and clinical consultation in pediatrics at Neuropediatric Department. San Joan de Deu Hospital. Barcelona. Spain (2004). After this , she increased her knowledge and skills in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring at the Hyman-Newman Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery. St Luke Roosevelt Hospital. New York. USA (2005) and also in Direct Brain Stimulation at Santiago de Compostela University Hospital. Galicia. Spain (2015). In 2007 she also completed the International Master: Physiology and Medicine . Pablo de Olavide University (60 credits). She has participated as professor at the International Master Sleep: Physiology and Medicine. Pablo de Olavide University, as expert in sleep in old age and neurodegeneration, from 2016 to now and as a guest professor in the Master in Neurologic Electrodiagnosis. Intraoperative monitoring in 2019. She has also participated as Instructor of the Minimally Invasive Spinal Cord Course organized by the Neurosurgery and Spinal Cord Unit and Valdecilla Virtual Hospital from 2014 to now. She was main tutor of HUMV resident physicians from 2007 to 2015. Dr Martínez has published several papers in high impact scientific journals (Lancet, Thorax, Chest, Jama, Sleep, Sleep Medicine…) and three book chapters. She has participated as speaker in several national and international scientific congresses and she is author/co-author of more than 80 oral communications in the field of intraoperative neuromonitoring, direct brain stimulation and sleep. She is a member of the Spanish Sleep Network. She collaborate as a reviewer for the Revista de Neurología (Rev Neurol). Dr Martínez has participated also in several financed research proyects : Validity of a Home Respiratory Polygraphy for the Diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Children (DINISAS); Efficacy and cost – effectiveness of a supersimplified system for the management of patients with sleep apneas in primary care; Medium and long term effectiveness of non-invasive ventilation in the obesity – hypoventilation syndrome (PICWICKS) etc. She was the president of the first Congress of the Spanish Intrasurgery Neurophysiologic Monitoring (AMINE, 2016) and the first Advanced Course: Intraoperative Monitoring during Spinal Cord Surgery (2016) and co-president of the XXV Annual Meeting Spanish Sleep Society (SES, 2017). Societies Membership: European Sleep Research Society, Spanish Sleep Society (SES), Spanish Clinical Neurophysiology Society (SENFC), Spanish Intrasurgery Neurophysiologic Monitoring (AMINE). Awards: HUMV Multidisciplinary Sleep Disorders Unit. Most Prominent HUMV Department /Unit in 2014.
