Dra. Mónica González is Medical Doctor at the University of Cantabria (Santander, Spain). Doctoral thesis at University of Zaragoza. Additional training and attendant research at "The Center for Non-invasive Mechanical Ventilation Alternatives and Pulmonary Rehabilitation" at the New Jersey Medical School (USA), in collaboration with John Bach PhD, and "Sleep Unit, Neurology Department", Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc, Université Catholique de Louvain. (Brussels, Belgium), in collaboration with Prof. D. Rodenstein. Participation in several research projects. Pneumology Service Attending Physician. Coordinator of the Respiratory, Sleep and Ventilation Disorders Unit (a multidisciplinary unit complying with criteria of excellence). Accredited expert in Sleep Medicine. Participating member of Non-Invasive Ventilation Experts Group. Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine (University of Cantabria). Fields of work: Respiratory disorders during sleep, clinical aspects, cardiovascular risk factors, alternative treatments. Non-invasive ventilation. Principal researcher and collaborator for the Spanish Sleep Network in a number of national and international multi-centered studies related to respiratory disorders during sleep, and in non-invasive ventilation. The results have been published in high impact journals for this specialism, and have led directly to changes in clinical guidelines.
