David Lobo is an Otolaryngologist Specialist at Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, Dept. of Otolaryngology, Rhinology & Skull Base Surgery, Universidad de Cantabria. Member of the Academic Commission, Coordinator and Professor of the Own Master's Degree in Advanced Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base of the International University of Andalucía. He trained at the Hospital Puerta de Hierro, Madrid (2001-2005). Doctor of Medicine from the University Autonoma of Madrid (2013), best doctoral thesis awarded by the Spanish Society of Otolaryngology and Facial Cervical Pathology (SEORL). Assistant professor both at the Faculty of Medicine of the University CEU San Pablo and Francisco de Vitoria, Madrid (Spain). He completed his training with different periods spent in foreign centers such as Leighton Hospital in UK, Emory University in Atlanta, USA, or Odense University in Denmark. He also spent a year at Skull Base Unit, Hospital Central de Asturias, Oviedo, Spain 2006, where he completed a Head and Neck and Skull Base fellowship. Director of the endoscopic sinus surgery course at Hospital Virtual Valdecilla, Santander since 2018. Dr Lobo's current research is focused on endoscopic sinus surgery, sensorineural hearing loss and surgical ergonomics. He has patented unique solutions to improve the ergonomics of endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. He has led as senior researcher many competitively funded research projects in Madrid and Santander. Dr Lobo has participated as a teacher or speaker in numerous national and international courses and congresses, he has published as author or co-author numerous articles in national and international journals of Otolaryngology, chapters in books and he is the main editor of a book on Surgical Ergonomics and a book on Frontal Sinus Surgery (the latter in press). He has received numerous awards including Best Clinical Work published in an International journal in 2020. He was elected a Board member of the Madrid ENT Association (AMORL) between 2005 and 2017. Convention delegate of the Official College of Physicians of Madrid (Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Madrid) between 2009 and 2015.
