Gabriela Veiga Fernández

Gabriela Veiga Fernández obtained her degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Oviedo (2003-2009) . She completed her training as cardiologist (2010-2015) at the Marqués de Valdecilla Hospital in Santander. During this period she carried out an international stay of 4 months at the Institut universitaire de Cardiologie et de Pneumologie de Québec (IUCPQ) in the area of Interventional Cardiology. Since 2015 she is part of the department of Interventional Cardiology in the Marqués de Valdecilla Hospital in Santander where she obtained the acreditation in this speciality and where she currently is developing her care and research activity. She is member of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and of the section of interventional cardiology. Also she belongs to the European Society of Cardiology. In the teaching area she collaborates with the University of Cantabria and she is also involved in teaching through simulation being a certified instructor by the institute for Medical Simulation in Boston. During these years she has completed several Masters in Clinical Research Methodology, Thromboembolic and Hemodynamic Disease and Endovascular Interventionism. She also participates annually in nationally and internationally cardiology conferences with the presentation of research works in her field, having more than 20 articles in prestigious journals indexed in JRC. She also gained her PhD degree cum laude in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cantabria in 2023 title: “A new physiopathological approach for the understanding and management of degenerative aortic stenosis”.
