Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Salamanca, Spain (1996). Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine at the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla in Santander, Spain (2002). PhD thesis from the University of Cantabria (2017). Since 2002, faculty member of the Intensive Care Medicine Service at the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla. In 2008, assigned to the Trauma and Neurocritical Care Unit. Collaborator professor at the University of Cantabria and Tutor of ICU residents between 2006 and 2010. Research interest focused on neurocritical ill patient, mainly about convulsive and non-convulsive status epilepticus, multimodal brain neuromonitoring, transcranial doppler ultrasound and EEG monitoring in ICU including simplified EEG devices (such as the bispectral index), intracortical electroencephalography and quantitative analysis of EEG. Member of the research group "Neurophysiology in Epilepsy and Neurointensive Care" of the Biomedical Research Institute (IDIVAL), Santander, Cantabria, Spain. Author of 13 book chapters, 45 articles in medical journals and more than 70 communications to congresses and meetings. Member of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) and the Neurointensive and Trauma Working Group of Spanish Society of Intensive, Critical Medicine and Coronary Units (SEMICYUC).
