María Rollán Martínez

I completed my pediatric intensive care subspecialty during the final year of my pediatric fellowship at Cruces University Hospital. During this period, I had rotations at the PICU of H.U. 12 de Octubre for two months and one month at the Pediatric Transport Service of H.U. Valle D'Hebron. In my first year as a General Pediatrician at H. Alto Deva, I dedicated four afternoons and three on-call shifts to the PICU of Cruces H.U. Afterward, I worked full time for six months in the PICU of H.U. Virgen del Rocío. Currently, I am employed as a general pediatrician at H. U. M. Valdecilla. During my fellowship, I acquired programming skills and developed applications to enhance my clinical practice. My interest in digital health led me to pursue a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Universidad del Pais Vasco, where I created a virtual reality demo for CPR training as my final project. I also completed a course as a University Expert in Statistics applied to Health Sciences and later pursued a Master's degree in Data Science at UOC to delve into the world of artificial intelligence. For 1 year and 5 months, I worked in Boston as a Research Fellow at the Applied Chest Imaging Lab (ACIL), Brigham & Women's Hospital, associated with Harvard University. My responsibilities involved utilizing digital image analysis techniques such as convolutional neural networks and radiomics to study pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension. The outcome of this work resulted in several published papers, contributing to my Ph.D. Currently, I work part-time in the E-health department of the Vicomtech Foundation, where I bring my clinical insights to projects and collaborate on the technical aspects.
