Elena De La Concepción Barreda

Elena de la Concepción Barreda is Project Manager in the Oncology Department at the Marqués de Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL), Santander, Cantabria, Spain, where she primarily works on European initiatives such as JA JANE-2, JA eCANplus, JA EUnetCCC, JA EUCanScreen, JA PCM, and EATRIS. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of León and Southeast Missouri State University (USA) in 2022, followed by a Master’s in Nutrigenomics and Personalized Nutrition at the University of the Balearic Islands (2022–2023) and a Master’s in Innovation and Development of Quality Foods at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (2023–2024). Her professional experience includes internships at J. García Carrión (Ciudad Real), focused on the development of plant-based beverages, and ADM Biopolis (University of Valencia Scientific Park), where she worked on the characterization of probiotics in C. elegans. She also conducted laboratory research in molecular genetics and nano-bio-engineering at Southeast Missouri State University. She is fluent in Spanish and English and holds the Cambridge English Level II Certificate (C1).
