Ana Sobrino Santos

Ana Sobrino Santos is a researcher at the Photonic Engineering Group (University of Cantabria, IDIVAL, CIBER-BBN) in Santander, Cantabria. She holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) with a specialization in Telemedicine, and a Master's degree in Data Science from the University of Cantabria, Menéndez Pelayo International University, and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Her current research focuses on developing non-invasive platforms using Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors and depth cameras for physical function assessment in older adults, encompassing computer vision software development, real-time processing, and clinical validation. This work is part of the MIES project (non-invasive platform for monitoring and improving executive functions), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities and the European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR program. Previously, she worked at the Neural and Cognitive Engineering Group at the Center for Automation and Robotics (CSIC-UPM) in Madrid on biosignal processing (EEG), neuromodulation and motor tasks, and smart environments for active aging. Her research experience includes clinical database development for radiation oncology at the HUMV and REDCap implementation for quality of life assessment at the Life Supporting Technologies research group at UPM. Her lines of investigation include non-contact assessment technologies, biosignal processing, computer vision in healthcare, and clinical data science.
