Carlos López completed his medical degree (2001) and a PhD program (2016) at Universidad de Cantabria. He is also specialist in Medical Oncology (H. U. Marqués de Valdecilla) (2006) and Master in Molecular Oncology by the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) (2011). During his trainee period, he has completed a 3-month stay as a “Clinical Observer” at the Comprehensive Oncology Center Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia (USA). He has subsequently developed his professional activity as a specialist in Medical Oncology at the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla (Santander) since 2006, focusing specifically on the field of digestive and endocrine system tumors since 2009. To date, he has participated as principal investigator and sub-investigator in multiple phase I-IV clinical trials and has published more than 100 articles in national and international indexed journals and book chapters related to this type of neoplasm. He has also presented more than 100 oral communications and posters in national and international conferences and medical meetings within the same field of development. He also collaborates, part-time, in several FIS projects and grants related to these pathologies. Currently, Dr. López is also a permanent member of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), member of the scientific committee of the Spanish Group for the Treatment of Digestive Tumors (TTD) and of the Spanish Group of Neuroendocrine Tumors (GETNE), and until last year was part of the board of directors of the Spanish Group of Orphan and Infrequent Tumors (GETHI), currently actively collaborating as a researcher in several projects with all these groups.
