Adolfo Cobo is a telecommunication engineer (PhD) and currently full professor of electronics technology at the University of Cantabria (Spain). His teaching duties include photonics, optical communications and networks, and soft skills for engineers (such as creativity and public speaking). His research interests are related to optical sensors with industrial applications, in particular, Raman and laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for material characterization. He is author or co-author of more than 60 papers in scientific journals and more than 140 works presented at conferences, and has supervised 5 thesis (other 3 in progress). He has collaborated in 28 research projects funded by public bodies, and in 45 research contracts with companies in the aeronautical, nuclear, and automotive industry. He has also contributed to the creation of three spin-off companies (Sadiq Engineering, Empiric Technologies, and eDrónica), is co-inventor of 11 patents applications.
