María Ángeles Quintela Incera

M. Angeles Quintela obtained her bachelor degree in 1995, and her master degree (both in Telecommunications) in 1998. She received her PhD degree from the University of Cantabria (Spain) in 2005 with a thesis focused on active structures based on erbium doped fiber Optical Communications and Sensors. This work was awarded with the Premio de Investigación del Consejo Social (Universidad de Cantabria) "Best Thesis in Engineering" recognition (2007). Since 2011, she holds a position as Associate Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) at the Photonics Engineering Group (GIF) at the University of Cantabria, Her teaching duties include undergraduate, master courses on photonic and electronic devices, optical communications, and advanced photonics topics. She has supervised more than 20 final degree projects and she is currently supervising two PhD thesis. From December 2010 until the present time she is Academic coordinator of studies of Telecommunication Engineer. He has also been a member of the Quality Commission of the Bachelor Degree and the Master Degrees (in Telecommunications) of the University of Cantabria. Her research interests include optical fiber laser and optical fiber distributed sensor systems based on the stimulated Raman scattering. Her scientific contributions include 26 papers in peer-review JCR journals and 88 works presented at conferences. She has been enrolled in 17 research projects funded by the European Union, Spanish and Local Government, and in 13 research contracts with companies in the fields of aeronautics and aerospace (TTI Norte, Rolls Royce, Volvo Aero, Snecma …), power generation (Iberdrola, ENSA, …) or automotive (Gestamp Corp.) among others.
