Education: 1994 Ms Telecommunications Engineering, University of Cantabria. 1999 PhD Telecommunicacions Engineering, University of Cantabria. Career Profile: Olga María Conde Portilla is Associate Professor in the Department TEISA of the University of Cantabria since 2003. Since 1993 she is professionally linked to UC being the Director of the Students Area between 2014 and 2016. From 1994 to 1999 she developed numerical methods applied to the study of electromagnetic and optical fields. In October 1999 she joined the Photonics Engineering Group focusing her teaching and research activities Photonics. Since 2015 she is an IDIVAL researcher and since 2016 she is member of CIBER-BBN (Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red in the subject area of Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine) of the Institute of Health Carlos III. To date, she has collaborated in different R & D & I projects funded by the European Union (4), NIH-NCI-USA (1), Spanish Government (24) and Regional Government (18). In addition, it has participated in 48 research contracts with public and private companies. Co-author of more than 40 articles in scientific journals (JCR indexed) and about 150 contributions in international and national congresses with peer review (7 invited). As technology transfer, Dr. Conde is a co-inventor of 5 Spanish/US patent applications and co-founder of a Spanish spin-off company. Dr. Conde belongs to the scientific societies IEEE and SPIE. Member of the Technical Committee (TPC) of the "Optical Sensors" (OSA) conferences in 2010, "Sensors Conference" (IEEE) in the period 2009-2017 and URSI in the 2009-2011 period. Reviewer of the ANEP and FNRS agencies (Belgium), and scientific journals such as "Journal of Biomedical Optics", "Optics Express", "Optics Letters", "Microsystems and Engineering - Nature", "IEEE PTL", "IEEE Sensors Journal ", etc.. Research Interests: Her research is focused in (i) medical imaging techniques for tumor delineation and diagnosis of cardiovascular pathologies; (Ii) artificial intelligence (pattern recognition techniques, spectral analysis, etc.) applied to artificial vision and image spectroscopy for biomedical, agrifood and industrial environments; (Iii) development of spectroscopic systems (transmission and absorption) and hyperspectral imaging systems for the characterization of materials (solids, liquids) in the visible and infrared ranges. In the biomedical field, she participates in the development of spectroscopic/fluorescence systems for the delineation of tumors (breast, cerebral gliomas, pancreas) to guide interventions in the surgery room; in the diagnosis of arterial wall degradation (aortic aneurysms) and tendinous cords of the heart by optical coherence tomography techniques and in the early diagnosis of melanoma by the fusion of photonic technologies.
