Currículum vitae

Carmen Pesquera studied Chemistry in the University of Valladolid and received her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Oviedo (Spain). She is currently an Associate Professor in Inorganic Chemistry area in the Department of Chemical and Process & Resource Engineering in the Technical High School of Industrial Engineering in the University of Cantabria and Researcher in Nanomedicine Group at IDIVAL (Spain). She has six modules (five years) positive of teaching activity and four modules (six years) of research activity. Main research interests is nanomaterials synthesis and characterization, catalysis application, adsorption studies of the synthesized materials. Her work and previous publications are mainly in the field of the synthesis and /or modification, of micro-mesoporous materials with silicon in the skeleton. Also, the characterization of those materials using several physic-chemical techniques as X-Ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis, chemisorption and physisorption of gases. Moreover, she studies the application of these materials in the field of catalysis and as sorbents. She has participated in European and National Projects. She has written more than 60 scientific articles on these subjects in international journals included in the Journal of Citation Reports (JCR) and chapters of books. In addition, she has been a Director of a Ph. D. of Chemistry and more than 60 Projects of students in the School where is working. Vocal of the Committee of XIX Bienal Meeting of National Physic and Chemistry (1982) and Secretary of the XX Iberica Meeting of Adsorption (1995). Represented the Inorganic Chemistry Group of the University of Cantabria in the Concerted European Action (Pillared Layered Structures) (1992-1995). Dra. Pesquera is a member of the Catalyst Spanish Society (SECAT), Specialized Group of Adsorption of the Royal Spanish Chemistry (RIA), Federation European Zeolite Association (FEZA), and Specialize Zeolites Group (GEZ). Member of the International Mesostructured Materials Association.
