David Lantarón Barquín

Former Law Faculty Dean of the University of Cantabria as well as member of the executive committee of ARELCIT, David Lantarón Barquin is Full Professor of Labour and Social Security Law. He is also the head of the Cantabria University research group on “Labour Law and Social Protection”. Prof. Lantarón Barquín has held and international academic activity of different natures in some 15 countries and in Universities as Universitá Roma 1 Sapienza, Pantheon Sorbonne, Harvard University, Georgetown, Oxford University, Universidad Nacional de Trujillo; West University of Timisoara; Universidad Católica de Buenos Aires; Universidad Católica de Valparaiso; Sate University of St. Petersburg. He also has been visiting researcher at the European Agency for the Improvement of Working and Life Conditions (EUROFOUND). Professor Lantaron´s current research is focused on public health and the worldwide socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis. He has published over 180 specialised papers, includins 8 monographs on diverse topics such as public protection of health (2007) and prevention of occupational risk in public administration (2007). David Lantarón is also member of the Editorial Board of several periodicals as “Ars boni et Aequi”, edited by the University Bernardo O’Higgins in Chile, or the State University of Sain Petersburg Law Faculty Yearbook. As professional activities related to the field of expertise he has been Magistrate Pro Tempore for a period of six judicial years (2003-2009) in a Superior Court of Justice (Social Jurisdiction Chamber), arbiter to settle labour conflicts related to the election of workers and officials representation (1994-2003), appointed as acting Manager-Secretary of the Cantabrian Organization for the Out of Court Settlements of Labour Conflicts for regional collective and individual labour-related disputes (1998-2001) as well as arbiter of this latter institution since 1997 to 2003 and from 2014 to present.
