Higinio Ayala Gutiérrez

Higinio Ayala Gutiérrez is Senior Consultant in Dept. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Hand and Wrist Surgery Unit, “Marques de Valdecilla” University Hospital. He is also an Honorary Collaborator with Venia Docendi at the University of Cantabria. He received an MD from the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain. He also completed the 5-year residency training program in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at “Virgen del Camino” Hospital, Pamplona, Spain. He obtained the certificate of Research Proficiency after completing a doctorate program in Surgery (Outstanding). He was a clinical fellow (2003-2004) at the C.M. Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery, Louisville, KY, USA. After achieving the best score at the examination of the European Diploma in Hand Surgery (2016), he obtained the Best Diploma Award. He is the director of the course “Introduction to microsurgery” for residents at Virtual Hospital Valdecilla. Dr H. Ayala has published 15 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters. He has edited 1 book “Patología artrósica de Mano y Muñeca. Hand & Wrist Arthritis”. He has peer-reviewed more than 50 articles at the Journal of Hand Surgery European Volume.
