Manuela Contreras García

Manuela is a diplomate in nursing (1996) by the UM, specialist obstetric and gynecology nurse (Midwifery - 2002), and I´ve got master's degree in health sciences research by the UC (2014). I am currently doing doctoral studies at UAH (Health Sciences program). The title of my thesis is: “Evaluation and impact of educational-health interventions (in the school, family and health environment) in the effective prevention and coping of perinatal death. The perspective of the midwife in a comprehensive approach to perinatal death and grief”. Co-founder and Vice President of the Non-Profit Association “Red el Hueco de mi vientre. Solidaridad en el duelo perinatal”. Through this association I go along with families who suffer the death of a child during pregnancy, childbirth, or after birth. In addition I have offered lectures and seminars to bereaved families and society in general, as well as courses for healthcare professionals in multiple hospitals and professional associations in Spain. I have presented communications and posters in different national and international congresses, related to health care in perinatal grief. I´ve got an extensive training in perinatal psychology (perinatal grief, pregnancy psychology, perinatal mental health) I am the author of the chapter "Care and Conduct perinatal death" by the book "Principios de medicina materno-fetal" (Editorial Cantabria University. Pp.458-468), as well as Co-author of the book “Attention and care in the face of death and perinatal grief”. Ed. YES NTESIS (publication on hold) I am the main investigator of three research projects approved by the Cantabria Research Ethics Committee: 1. “Evaluation of the OnLine Midwifery Cantabria program to prepare for maternity and paternity”. 2. "Talking about life and perinatal death with children in a pregnancy and childbirth workshop". 3. "Exploratory analysis of professional practice in the approach to the prevention of complications in pregnancy and childbirth: regarding an educational intervention for professionals" .
