Career Profile: Carmelo Morales-Angulo is Chief of the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Valdecilla University Hospital (Santander) and associate professor of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, University of Cantabria. He received a PhD from the University of Cantabria, Santander (Spain). He was a visiting doctor at the Departments of Otolaryngology Head and Neck surgery at New York University Medical Hospital (New York), Veterans General Hospital (Taichung), Gentofte Hospital (Kopenhagen), and Silvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (Miami). He got the bronze medal of the Spanish Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery in 2009. He has worked as secretary of the Spanish Society of Audiology and was a member of the Spanish comitee of Otology of the Spanish Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Morales-Angulo has been involved in the development of the Neonatal Hearing Screening protocol of the Cantabria Autonomous Region and the consensus paper for the development of a Universal neonatal hearing screening protocol for all the Spanish territory. Dr. Morales-Angulo Has published over 80 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. He has edited a book: "Meniere Disease" (2009). Research Interests Dr. Morales-Angulo current research interests include: "Lifecycle, stem cells and cáncer" and "prognostic factors of Head and Neck Cancer". Moreover, his group is also focused on genetic basis of hearing loss .He is also interested in HHT disease.
