Nerea Paz Gandiaga

Research group at IDIVAL: “Señalización celular y dianas terapéuticas en cancer.” My professional career has evolved in the areas of research, teaching and diagnostic of human hereditary genetic diseases in national and international centres, and noteworthy continuous education in advanced programmes of molecular biology, biomedicine, bioinformatics, medical genetics and genetic counselling. I completed Health Biology and Biochemistry degrees at the University of Navarra in 2006, and during this period I accomplished personal grants abroad at the University of Troms(l) (Norway) and at a private Laboratory in Dublin (lreland). In 2007 I started the doctoral degree in Human Genetics entitled “Spatial and functional organization of the genome in Down's Syndrome cells”, in collaboration with CIC bioGUNE centre and Genetics department at the University of the Basque Country (Spain), obtaining the highest qualification and scientific publications in the areas of Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics. I continued as postdoctoral researcher in 2012 at GSI Helmholtzzentrum für schwerionenforschung centre in Darmstadt (Germany), where I participated in numerous international conferences as invited speaker and collaborated in the implementaOon of research programmes, i.e., GREWIS project entitled “Genetic risk assessment and biomarkers identification of exposure to ionising radiation.” With increasing self-motivation and working experience skills in genetic diagnostic, in 2015 I started my professional career in clinical care in the genetic diagnostic of human hereditary diseases in private entities. In 2021, I joined the health national system in Genetics unit of Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, with this goal, at the Next Generation Sequencing laboratory, promoting collaborative activities with other clinical services and publication of scientific articles.
