Marta Martin is a specialist in Internal Medicine at the Marqués Valdecilla University Hospital and has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cantabria, Spain since 2011. She was a tutor for residents during the period 2020-2025. She holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Cantabria (1999). She completed a pre-doctoral stay at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, USA from 2006 to 2009 where she studied the role of estrogen receptor in bone biology. Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cantabria (2009). She has supervised a doctoral thesis, published a dozen papers in high-impact journals and contributed to chapters in several books . She has participated as a speaker and lecturer in numerous courses, seminars and conferences. She was a member of the board of directors of the Spanish Society for Osteoporosis and Mineral Metabolism (SEIOMM) from 2022 to 2025 and is co-editor of the society's journal (ROMM). Her research focuses on areas related to mineral and lipid metabolism.
