Mónica Gozalo Margüello is Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cantabria, Specialist in Family and Community Medicine and Specialist in Microbiology and Parasitology. Member of the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC). Member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). Member of the European Society of Clinical Virology (ESCV). Member of the Spanish Network Research in Infectious Pathology (REIPI). Especially interested in the study of infections in transplanted patients and the development of resistance to antimicrobials and antivirals, has participated as a research collaborator in various multicenter studies related to infections associated to multi-resistant microorganisms, as well as to viral infections in patients subjected to transplant. PostMIR contract "Wenceslao López Albo" with the Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) as principal investigator of a project aimed at evaluating the molecular diagnosis of emerging virus in immunosuppressed patients. Currently developing her activity as a microbiologist in charge of the Unit of Virology at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital since 2015 and is the principal investigator of a project financed under the Support Program for Emerging Researchers "NextVal" (IDIVAL).
