David Cantarero Prieto

David Cantarero is Full Professor (Dept. of Economics, University of Cantabria). He is also a Principal Investigator in the IDIVAL (Health Economics and Health Services Group) and Head of Executive Master of Health Management and Health Services. He was a visiting fellow at the Centre for Health Economics (CHE) of the University of York, Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) of the University of Essex (United Kingdom) and the Department of Management and Economics of the Universidade da Beira (Portugal) and the Center for Studies and Research in Health at Universidade de Coimbra (CEIS UC, Portugal). Furthermore, he collaborates with the GEN-the Governance and Economics research Network (University of Vigo, Spain) Prof. Cantarero has published over 121 peer-reviewed articles (The European Journal of Health Economics, PLoS ONE, Applied Research in Quality of Life, Journal of Policy Modelling, BMC Public Health, Social Indicators Research, Gaceta Sanitaria, Economic Modeling, Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters...) and 16 book chapters and has a H-index of 25 (Google Scholar). He is an Associate Editor of BMC Health services research and Gaceta Sanitaria (ISI JCR-Journal Citation Reports). He is on the editorial board of other 6 journals. He has edited eleven books and he has received numerous awards including: the Ferenc Bojan Investigator Award from the European Public Health Association, Extraordinary Doctorate Award, the College of Economists of Cantabria, the Social Council of the University of Cantabria, the Spanish Journal of Regional Studies, the National Award Julio Alcaide Inchausti ”for Young Researchers in Economics, the Award for Best Communication at the 2018 Conference of the Spanish Health Economics Association, etc. He has been involved in several multidisciplinary teams for the development of different competitive research projects such as the National R + D + I Plan (MINECO), the European Union (FRESHER Project, TIMELY Project-H2020), FUNCAS, FEDEA, BBVA, ONCE, UNICEF, IEF and other stakeholders. Hhe has acted as reviewer for several high-impact journals and has presented more tan 320 works as oral presentation in international and national conferences and seminars. Furthermore, he has been part of several organizing committees of conferences and meetings related to Applied and Health Economics. He was elected as Vicepresident of the Spanish Health Economics Association (AES) in 2018 and is currently on Spanish Society of Public Health and Health Administration (SESPAS).
