Laura Ruiz Azcona holds a Ph.D. in Medicine and Health Sciences from the University of Cantabria (2021), a Master’s degree in Health Care Research (2015), and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (2014) from the same institution. She is also a certified Expert in Pediatric Nursing from Universidad Antonio de Nebrija (2021) and has additional training in Health Economics and Evaluation of Health and Social Care Services (2017). She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Cantabria and as Vice Dean for Practicum and Equality Policies, where she leads initiatives to enhance practical training in clinical settings. Her teaching responsibilities include courses on pediatric and adolescent nursing, applied research, and evidence-based care, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research focuses on three main areas: public health, pediatric care, and humanization of healthcare. She is a member of the Global Health Research Group at the University of Cantabria, where she actively contributes to projects addressing health challenges from a multidisciplinary perspective. She has also participated in competitive I+D+i projects funded by public and private entities and has an extensive scientific output, including publications in JCR-indexed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. In addition, she has supervised numerous undergraduate and master’s theses. Laura also brings significant clinical experience, having worked as a nurse at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital from 2014 to 2023, where she specialized in critical care areas such as Intensive Care Units, medical-surgical wards, and the Blood and Tissue Bank of Cantabria.
