Noelia Fontanillas Garmilla

Noelia Fontanillas obtained her MD title in 1996 and her title of Primary Care Specialist in 2000 (University of Cantabria and Laredo Hospital, Cantabria, respectively). She defended her PhD in 2008 (University of Cantabria) “Evolution of patients with chronic daily headache and analgesic overuse in the general population”, with the maximum score of “sobresaliente cum laude”. Her doctoral thesis was published in Headache, a Q1 journal. Dra. Fontanillas has occupied several Primary Care positions since the year 2000 in Castilla la Mancha, Rioja and Cantabria, where she got her current position in the Health Center of Bezana in 2011. There she is responsible of medical education and specifically also of the teaching of the medical residents. During 2017-2019 she was also the Coordinator of such Health Center. Her teaching activity includes participation in multiple Primary Care Courses and Congresses. Regarding her scientific activity, she has published several Q1 papers and presented more than 100 contributions to medical congresses, which received several prizes from the “Servicio Cántabro de Salud” and from SEMERGEN, the Spanish Society of Primary Care physicians. In such scientific society she has occupied several teaching and scientific positions, collaborated in a variety of Guidelines and she currently is the Coordinator of the Digestive Disease Group. She has been admitted by the PhD School of University of Cantabria as PhD director and she is currently the director of a PhD student of a thesis devoted to Headache in Primary Care.
