Education 1990 Medical Degree, University of Valladolid 2010 PhD Medicine, University of Cantabria Career Profile Emilio Rodrigo is currently a nephrologist in the University Hospital "Marqués de Valdecilla", Santander (Cantabria) and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cantabria. He carried out the Nephrology residency between 1993 and 1996 at the University Hospital "Marqués de Valdecilla" in Santander (Cantabria), where he has been mainly developing his professional activity as a specialist in Nephrology since 1997. In 2007-2008 he was Deputy Medical Director of the University Hospital "Marqués de Valdecilla" in Santander (Cantabria). He completed his PhD in Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Cantabria in 2010. He spent a year (2011-2012) in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, USA. He obtained the Board of Transplant Medicine Qualification in Transplant Medicine in 2013. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the Spanish Society of Transplantation and the Spanish Society of Nephrology, of which he is member of the Research Commission. He is also a member of the North Society of Nephrology. He participated in the development of the clinical guidelines of the Spanish Society of Kidney Nephrology published in 2004 and of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation published in 2017. Research profile Emilio Rodrigo has an H index of 19, having published more than 125 articles in indexed journals, including articles in high impact journals in his specialty such as Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Kidney International, American Journal of Transplantation, Transplantation, Diabetes Care and Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation. He has also published several book chapters. He has participated as a reviewer for journals such as American Journal of Transplantation, Transplantation, Transplant International, Clinical Kidney Journal and Nefrología. His priority research lines focused on the area of renal transplantation, mainly on immunological monitoring after transplantation, delayed graft function after renal transplantation, the onset of diabetes after transplantation and its long-term outcome. Other areas of research beyond kidney transplantation have been the measurement of renal function and acute renal failure in the context of sepsis. He is a member of the Renal Disease Research Network and has been a co-investigator of several projects as a member of the Nephrology Service of the University Hospital Marqués de Valdecilla and co-principal investigator in a project funded by the Carlos III Health Institute in the period 2015-2017.
